News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst says Prime Minister Scott Morrison took a 'diplomatic stance' regarding the ongoing US-China trade war and its importance to Australia. Mr Morrison is in France at the G7 as a spectator and is holding meetings with world leaders.
“It highlights how difficult this issue is for Australia, navigating between our traditional ally in the US and our number one trading partner in China,” she told Sky News. Ms Smethurst said Mr Morrison “wants to see things resolved” and it is also the consensus among other leaders at the G7 summit. Some economists warn the ongoing trade dispute could plunge the global economy into recession.
