The NFL draft is mere weeks away, and it’s almost time for the Dallas Cowboys to go on the clock. But will it be at No. 24 overall?

With another team looking to trade up, Dallas could add some extra picks while still filling a need in the first round.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy yells at his offensive players to get ready after the Green Bay Packers scored a second quarter touchdown in a Wild Card Playoff game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, January 14, 2024., which covered the first two rounds, on Wednesday, and he projected that the Cowboys will instead be moving out of that spot. With the San Francisco 49ers looking to trade up, Yates predicts the Cowboys will be their dance partner, sliding Dallas back to No. 31 overall.

In Yates’ mock draft, the move to No. 24 would land San Francisco offensive tackle Amarius Mims from Georgia. “San Francisco could afford to develop Mims this offseason and work him into the lineup as needed in Year 1,” Yates said. “Mims would also be a potential succession plan to Trent Williams long term at left tackle.”

“It feels like a foregone conclusion that the Cowboys will take a back at some point in the draft after losing Tony Pollard this offseason,” Yates said., but Dallas is unafraid of taking swings on Day 2. Brooks has excellent vision and balance, and he can be a factor in the passing game.”Brooks’ knee surgery was performed by Cowboys team physician Dr. Dan Cooper.
