Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan has tasked two academics with leading a review of recent labour disruptions at ports in Canada in the wake of a tumultuous, nearly two-week-long strike that shut down ports across B.C. Queen’s University professors Anthony Giles and Kevin Banks will lead the first phase of a review of the structural issues underlying this past summer’s longshore workers strike in B.C. and similar labour disputes at Canadian ports, O’Regan announced Thursday.

“The goal of this review is stability. Canada is a reliable trading partner to the world. That is a good thing for every employer and worker in this country,” he said in a statement.
