The Bureau of Immigration (BI) unexpectedly arrested two Vietnamese allegedly involved in cryptocurrency scam activities right at the immigration main office in Manila when they visited to inquire about the status of their case.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco was informed about the arrest by immigration intelligence chief Fortunate Managan, Jr.

According to records, suspects, Phan Thi Lien and Nguyen Sanh Huy were previously apprehended in May by the Philippine National Police – Anti-Cybercrime Group in Mabalacat, Pampanga. The Vietnamese were allegedly running a crypto scam hub and were also found to have allegedly exploited their employees.

The arresting immigration officers were taken aback by their presence at the immigration office, as the suspects were still under the custody of the police. In response to the situation, Tansingco promptly issued a mission order for their arrest and detention at the BI's facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation.
