How about a double trade down to make up for recent years of not trading down?

$4 million guaranteed to be Smith’s backup. It’s not out of the question Seattle drafts a passer — Richardson? — and installs him as the No. 3 option, but the Lock signing might also be an indication the organization doesn’t like the top quarterbacks, no matter how manyLet’s say the Seahawks are not drafting a quarterback.

Seattle typically doesn’t draft this high, so this might be a chance to add someone at a key position such as Anderson if four quarterbacks come off the board to start the draft. It’s typically more valuable to move down and add more premium selections if you’re offered first- and second-round picks as part of a deal, though. If the Seahawks can land a future first-rounder from the Titans or Commanders as part of a trade up for a quarterback, Schneider should be amenable to moving back.

Likewise, the Seahawks don’t need receivers and should be trying to solicit interest from the teams below them. We’ve seen them be comfortable moving down to the bottom of the first round and even to the top of the second round in this range, so I’m not sure they typically see much difference between the players in the 20s and the ones available 10 or 15 picks later.

What happens here might depend on what Seattle elects to do with the No. 5 pick. If it drafts a quarterback who won’t play much in 2022, this selection might be coach Pete Carroll’s chance to add an immediate contributor to the roster. If the Seahawks draft a non-quarterback early, they are more likely to trade away this pick for additional selections, possibly to take a quarterback later in the draft.

Alright I have to assume by “The Seahawks don’t need receivers” he means that they don’t absolutely need to use a first-round pick on a wide receiver, or at least not at 20th. Because otherwise, and I’m unapologetic in beating this drum, the Seahawks need wide receiver depth.

This just in! Bill Barnwell doesn’t know a whole lot about Football! Sure, he’s labeled as THE ESPN guy, but their on-air talent is a shadow of what it used to be. Before, you had to have credentials and be a journalist to be on TV. Now, you just need a blog and a hit Tik Tok.

Lost me at ESPN…….

I like Anderson at 5 but if we could pick it another 1st & 3rd and get Carter or Van Ness I'd be cool with that. I really want Murphy at 20 but doubt you can trade down and still get him.

That's a good reason why they shouldn't.

It wouldn't surprise me.

Don't we need quality over quantity this time? I suppose the differences this draft are negligible

Some people would like to see the Seahawks just give their top picks away. Some of these people claim to be Seahawk fans with good intentions, and then we see some pseudo NFL commentator like this...

Depends on who is there. Anderson or Wilson and you take him, if gone sure trade back. And can't determine 20 at this point but keep options open

With enough draft picks we can finally unveil the end game. Now witness the power of a fully functional Pete Carroll all running back offense

No!!! Please don’t trade down. I would much rather watch Pete and John crap the bed! Maybe another Malik McDowell or L.J. Collier?

We already have 10 picks most of whom probably won't start, makes no sense to move down.

trade out of 5 for a first and second next year, next year's class is so much better than this one

I can see 20 but 5 gotta be a pretty penny don’t get that pick often

if they trade away a top 5 pick im gonna be so pissed

Only way I trade down from 5 is if they offer there pick plus a first round next year

I’d be extremely suprised if we trade out of the top 5 pick. Do whatever you want with 20 but leave that 5 pick alone or trade up from 5

How do they get paid for this nonsense

I can’t imagine them NOT trading away the 5th pick. It’s what PC and JS do.

No
