Toronto police recover “significant portion” of $400,000 lost through cryptocurrency scam

A man has been reunited with “a significant portion” of his lost money after falling victim to a Bitcoin scam, according to Toronto police.The seizure and restitution were done with the help of the Cyber Unit and Financial Crimes Unit.However, it is known that the man was contacted by scammers online and persuaded into investing in a platform called ‘cryptos-seed.com’.

Scammers were able to convince the victim that his invested funds were growing significantly. When he tried to pull money out, he was stonewalled with excuses. The scammers asked him to invest more, or pay a large fee, to have the money released.
