Toni Wahrstätter, an Ethereum researcher who also reviewed Buterin’s blog post, told CoinDesk: “Stealth addresses have great potential to be used in every transaction in which the interaction between two parties should not be revealed to the public.”
Wahrstätter emphasized the need for the stealth address system for the expansion of everyday crypto use: “In particular, think of donations or simply payroll checks,” highlighting that users may not want others to see their personal transactions on a public blockchain. “For example, when I buy a coffee at the supermarket, I might not want the supermarket to know my employer, how much I earn and what I spend it on," Wahrstätter added."Stealth addresses are yet another, quite straightforward tool to increase the overall privacy in the network.”
VitalikButerin It is not just 'an' problem. It is THE problem.
VitalikButerin I'm sure it will be implemented in the best way
VitalikButerin So stupid, stealth address are basically same as if you would create new address for every transaction. It has absolutely nothing to do with privacy, just your money is separated and not that easy linkable.
VitalikButerin monero been there , monero done that 🙅♂️
VitalikButerin Not bad as a first move towards privacy. Maybe it will discourage an average Joe from trying, but just using that does not constitute full privacy, more steps have to be implemented. If you are looking for something that has already been tested in that aspect, just go through XMR
VitalikButerin The transparency of a widely distributed and decentralized ledger was one of the tenants of blockchain tech in the first place. While a personal identity was never meant to be linked to an address itself, the addresses and their transactions should always remain discoverable.
VitalikButerin VitalikButerin It does not completely solve the issue of lack of privacy on a blockchain, as other methods such as transaction linking and network analysis can still be used to potentially reveal the identity of a user. Agree?
VitalikButerin Is that an original idea?
VitalikButerin ETH just switched to POS. There are 3 or more upgrades to be implemented over the course of the next few years. So for stealth address, you re talking a 3 to 5 years span before anything happens😂🤡 Another idea, switch to mweb Litecoin LTC with optional privacy💪
VitalikButerin Isn’t he part of the WEF elite? Gives me some chills tbh.
VitalikButerin $SCRT has already been doing this research
VitalikButerin I'm just not impressed with Ethereum and never have been.
VitalikButerin Ever heard of Litecoin or Monero
VitalikButerin Litecoin has stealth addresses now with litecoin MWEB.
VitalikButerin Just fix the GD TX fees!
VitalikButerin Don't count on it ! ETH is owned by the WEF !
VitalikButerin Zk proofs is exactly what's needed for this and its coming on polygon soon.
VitalikButerin It's possible! Stealth addresses are promising. We need to focus on developing privacy-preserving protocols to improve financial inclusion and unlock use cases. DeFi CryptoSlang
VitalikButerin Hmmm i wonder why nobody has thought of that?
VitalikButerin Done. XDC. You're welcome
VitalikButerin Here's what it means for ETH
VitalikButerin Hey CoinDesk! You should read the $RZ whitepaper. They are redefining P2E (and B2E) with their new technology and digital retro arcade! Read below if I’ve peaked your interest 🤓
VitalikButerin Here's our approach.
VitalikButerin no
VitalikButerin Monero is using it
