Nearly half of The Australian Financial Review readers support the Albanese government’s plans to introduce a tradable carbon credits scheme requiring the country’s largest polluters to gradually reduce emissions.

readers support the Albanese government’s plans to introduce a tradable carbon credits scheme requiring the country’s largest polluters to gradually reduce emissions.

The proposed reforms include a system of carbon credits in which eligible companies can earn credits by reducing emissions, and sell them to companies where reducing emissions is slower and more costly.readers found 49 per cent fully supported the government’s proposed trading scheme to get Australia’s largest carbon emitters to reduce their emissions over time. Nineteen per cent of respondents believed companies should not be able to buy credits to escape reducing emissions.

“Presenting the issue as a ‘concept’ rather than a fully detailed scheme that embodies the concept removes any potential for those that are fundamentally opposed to any form of First Nations recognition using ‘the detail’ in order to argue against the concept,” one reader said.

It's the best hope of progress we have on offer. But it's not the best solution. Bring back the carbon tax.

all these fire prone batteries are tradable.......

We need a format, leader, and leverage to fight this climate nonsense.

That'd be 3 out of the 7, yeah?

Capping at $75 ie not a deee market, high value credits and low value… looking great so far. Waiting for the piss takers to make the $ss

I see you're a glass half full commentator, the better choice would have been to lead with the bigger number, something like: majority of readers reject the carbon trading scheme.

That's actually a pretty low percentage given how long and how vehemently the case has been made throughout the political and media landscapes.

Carbon credit schemes are a complete fraud at the best of times

What about the other half who can’t afford to put food on the table and pay their electricity bills?

Nearly half. What a scam

Got to love this ! 'Nearly half of The Australian Financial Review readers support the Albanese government’s plans to introduce a tradable carbon credits scheme' However, more than half did not ! There, fixed it for you. 😂

Translation: more people don’t support Albo’s carbon credits tax, than those that do.
