It has been fenced off for years

Fresh plans have been put forward for a previously rejected new 'village' on a closed golf course. The former Bramcote Hills Golf Course on Thoresby Road, Bramcote, could be transformed into nearly 100 retirement homes to form Bramcote Hills Retirement Village, if plans are approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.

Previous versions of the reserved matters application for the project were rejected by Broxtowe Borough Council's planning committee on grounds that its scale and prominence would adversely affect the amenity of local residents. This decision was upheld by the Planning Inspectorate after the developer appealed.

In a planning document, Halsall Lloyd Partnership on behalf of Champions Gate Ltd, said: "The proposed development will provide a high-quality environment forming a Continuing Care Retirement Community, including Specialist Care accommodation for over 55’s.
